- Matching the Number of Conductors to the Number of Breaker Poles
Do not split up conductors from the same circuit into individual conductors and use multiple breakers. This problem was found in a healthcare facility. Conductors 13, 15 & 17 are bundled into one 3-phase circuit. If a fault occurred on Conductor #17, the breaker protecting this conductor would trip, but the double pole breaker protecting Conductors 13 & 15 would not trip. This would cause the loss of one phase to the load. This could cause damage to the load.
